Followed by an eruption of cheers!
Let the parties begin!
Parents across the land have been waiting all summer for this moment. Backpacks packed, lunches in hand, off to the bus they go and then.....
Quiet! SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
So quiet you could hear a pin drop but instead you hear the sound of sighs as moms and dads everywhere colapse into that back to school state of bliss and relaxation.
Sure, it's been a great summer and they've had all kinds of fun with you kids, and they look forward to the weekends ahead but...
7 days a week of sun up to sun down (and beyond) has taken a lot out of them. They aren't as young as they used to be and they need a chance to recharge those batteries.
They look to days like today as a time to just kick back and enjoy the silence. Or so they let you think. Truth is they have a massive party as soon as you get on that bus. It's wild and it goes on from coast to coast. Parents dancing on tables, doing the limbo, singing, playing party games hats, streamers, noise makers, the whole kit and kaboodle of partyness. They whoop it up for that entire morning and early afternoon only stopping to clean it up before you get home. It's crazy!
Well, ok maybe they dont get THAT wild but it's great for them to see you off to school knowing that they now have a little "me time" coming their way. That is until you sign up for every single afterschool activity and they have to spend all day figuring out how to get their stuff done while still being able to get you to band/soccer/football/dance/jellyfishing/tiddleywinks or whatever else practice you have to attend!
Yes kids, it's time to get back to class and learn all about that stuff in those book thingees. (maybe I should have payed more attention myself)
A toast to the parents who survived the summer!
Here's to the kids who head back to class.
And here's to the teachers and professors!
By the way, there's a three day weekend coming up in a couple weeks
